Landscape Lighting

Light that belongs to the landscape.

Architectural lighting for the grounds (paths, façades, specimen trees, and water) in solid brass that disappears by day and lasts a lifetime. Designed, buried, and controlled as one system.

The garden, designed after dark.

A landscape has a second life at night, and lighting is how it's drawn. Done well, it's not fixtures on a lawn. It's depth, layers, and shadow: a house grazed with warm light, a canopy lit from below, a path you read without seeing where the light comes from. We design that, install it in brass built to be buried, and keep the hardware out of sight.

The design

Layers, not floodlights.

We light in layers, the way a room is lit inside. Uplight for the architecture and the trees. Downlight from the canopy for moonlight across a lawn. Grazing for texture on stone and façade. Low, shielded light along the paths and steps. Warm, dark-sky-considerate, and glare-free, so the property reads as one composition, not a runway.

Native by design

Made for the outdoors, from the start.

Coastal Source calls its approach native by design: lighting built for the landscape from the first drawing, not adapted from indoor parts. Solid brass, engineered to live in the ground and the beds, made to belong to the garden rather than sit on top of it. It is the philosophy we build every property on.

The fixtures

Solid brass, made to last a lifetime.

Coastal Source fixtures are solid marine-grade brass: no plastic to yellow, no housings to rust. They weather to a living patina, they're made to be handled and re-aimed as the garden grows, and they're built on the EVO platform so they can be serviced in the field, not dug up and replaced.

The engineering

Buried, weatherproof, and serviceable.

The reason it lasts is under the mulch. The patented Coastal Connector is a waterproof, tool-free, burial-rated connection: no junction boxes to corrode, no wire nuts to fail. The same infrastructure that runs Coastal Source lighting can run the outdoor audio, and a certified team installs it to a standard you'll never have to think about again.

One app, dusk to dawn.

The lighting runs on the same Savant system as the inside of the home. Scenes for the evening, for a party, for arriving, and for away; an astronomic timeclock that follows sunset through the year; and a single dial to take the whole property warm and low. Add the outdoor sound and it's one grounds, one control.

Common questions

Will the fixtures rust or fade?
No. They're solid brass, not plastic or painted aluminum. They weather to a natural patina and are made to last decades.
Can I control the lighting from my phone?
Yes. It runs on Savant, with scenes, an astronomic timeclock that tracks sunset, and dimming, all from the same app that runs the house.
Are the wires visible?
No. Wiring is buried and joined with the patented, waterproof Coastal Connector. No visible junction boxes.
Is it energy-efficient?
Yes. Warm, low-glare LED, dark-sky-considerate, and zoned so only what you want is lit.
Do you design the lighting, or just install it?
We design it (in layers, with your landscape architect where there is one) and install and service it.
Where do you work?
Westchester, Fairfield County, NYC, the Hamptons, Long Island, Nantucket, and Bermuda.
