Smart Home Integration in Bronxville

Bronxville fits stone Tudors, slate roofs and Lawrence Park's artists' houses into one walkable square mile.

Most of the village was built in the early twentieth century, much of it Tudor Revival, Arts and Crafts and stone, with Lawrence Park on the hill, one of the country's early artists' colonies.

Those houses were built to last, which is what makes adding technology delicate. Plaster on lath, thick masonry and leaded windows mean Wi-Fi struggles and walls cannot be opened casually. We plan these retrofits like restorations: keypads in existing boxes, cable through existing paths, speakers finished into the plaster.

Lots are close together, so garden audio is designed to stay in your garden and out of your neighbor's.

From the Journal

The room nobody sees

Older houses on small lots rarely leave room for equipment. Our guide to finding a space that stays cool, quiet and easy to service.

Architecture

Tudor, stone and Arts and Crafts

Half-timbering, slate and stone outside; oak, plaster and leaded glass within. The aim is a house that looks exactly as it did and works as a new one does.

Lifestyle

A walking village

The train, the shops and the schools are on foot, so life gathers in the house and the garden: a family room that becomes a cinema, music while cooking, a network that holds for school and work.

Questions

Bronxville, answered.

Do you work in Bronxville?
Yes. We design and install lighting control, networking, audio and home theater for homes in Bronxville, Lawrence Park and the rest of Eastchester, from our office in Armonk.
Can you install technology without damaging original plaster?
Yes. We cut and patch with a restoration contractor's care, use existing switch boxes and paths wherever we can, and finish speakers into the plaster so they are hard to find.
Our lot is small. Will outdoor speakers bother the neighbors?
Not if they are designed well. We use more speakers at lower volume, aimed into your garden, so the sound is even where you sit and falls away at the property line.
Do you also work in Scarsdale, Pelham and Larchmont?
Yes, across southern Westchester, including Scarsdale, Pelham, Larchmont and Rye.
